Reminding us how rapidly the neighborhood was changing, a wholesale bakery was still moving out when we started measuring the existing building for this conversion project. We focused on preserving and rehabilitating the existing structure. The design minimized the area required for a new stair and corridors which allowed for 11 residential apartments, and relocating some floor area to the roof gave two of them penthouse bedrooms.
